ISIS wiping out the history of Syria and Iraq

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/09/world/iraq-isis-heritage/

The temple of Baalshamin in Palmyra, Syria, seen in a file image dating back to 1960. ISIS militants are reported to have rigged the ruins with large quantities of explosives before detonating them. The timing of the blast is uncertain -- the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says it happened sometime in late July/early August.

The threatened landscape of Syria

ISIS are not only killing people but are also killing a traditional landscape of the region by flattening ancient buildings-

The Temple of Baal Shamin

Map showing destroyed sites-

The world heritage sites that have been damaged so far by ISIS across Syria and Iraq

Confirmation: The Temple of Baal Shamin had stood in the desert for 2,000 years, but was destroyed by ISIS at some point in the last months, as these images - taken in June (top) and in August (bottom) prove
